Signs Of The Hour 1

        Allah said,

”يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَاۖ قُلۡ إِنَّمَا عِلۡمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّيۖ لَا يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقۡتِهَآ إِلَّا هُوَۚ”
”They ask you about the Hour (Day of Resurrection): “When will be its appointed time?” Say: “The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (Alone). None can reveal its time but He.”            

Allah only knows the time of the Day of Judgment. But He told us some details about its signs. The signs of Hour are the signs that will precede the Yum Al-Qiamah (The Day of Judgment). It is divided into two signs 1- signs of saa’ah sughra (minor signs), and 2- saa’ah kubraa (major signs). Allah gave us a description of Hour signs to let our hearts grow with fear and hope and to educate us. If we are acknowledged with some information about the Hour, our belief in Allah gets stronger against the world changes once we go through it.

           The minor signs are the signs that will appear a long time before the Hour approaches, some have already appeared, and some have not yet. The prophet Muhammed is one of the minor signs, as it was mentioned in Sahih Muslim, Anas reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: I and the Last Hour have been sent like this and (he while doing it) joined the forefinger with the middle finger. Also, there is the splitting of the moon, Allah said in the Holy Quran, surah Al-Qamar, ”The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). It happened in the time of the prophet Muhammed before the Hijrah. The people of Mekkah asked the prophet Muhammed to show them evidence of his prophecy, so Allah Almighty split the moon.

                   The prophet Muhammed said in Sahih Muslim ”Abdullah said that five signs have (become things) of the past (and have proved the truth of the Holy Prophet): (Enveloping) by the smoke, inevitable (punishment to the Meccans at Badr), (the victory of) Rome, (violent) seizing (of the Meccans at Badr) and (the splitting up of) the Moon. The incident of the smoke happened to the tribe of Quraish. Rome (The victory of the Romans) refers to the victory of Rome against the Persia. For the violent seizing, it refers to the battle of Badr and the great victory of Muslims against the disbelievers. Some other signs are happening in the present, you can see it around you. Knowledge will be taken away (by the death of scholars), and ignorance will prevail. Earthquakes and killings will increase in number. A person will pass by the grave and wish to trade places out of despair.

            We are not required to memorize these signs by heart, but we are commanded to watch our actions and deeds. We are required to be ready for our Hour (the death of the soul) and the Great Hour (the day of judgment). May Allah grant our hearts the fear of Allah and the hope in Allah. May Allah grant us the good deeds and keep us away from the Haram (bad deeds).
